Destination Marrakech
CONTENTS
October 2019, I flew for the first time to Morocco. I was organizing the whole first edition of Manager of Myself, another recreational retreat reserved for women entrepreneurs. To leave, to fly away for a few days for an inspiring journey with the scent of the Orient. The idea of this retreat was born from an urgent need to extract myself from the daily life of mother, wife, entrepreneur. Slow down, share, get inspired. I had no idea how much this break would upset me.
There, I discovered a vibrant and colorful city. Going to Marrakech was a journey of the senses, contrasting and intense, a radical change of scenery worthy of the most beautiful tales of the Arabian Nights. I met 1001 incredible women there. All from different backgrounds and regions of France. I had carefully selected them in order to create a benevolent and soothing group energy. In the end, it was they who took me on board. Through their journeys as women, they moved me to tears.
Three years later, these women are still in my life. And it is rare that a day goes by without us talking about our doubts, our successes, our entrepreneurial issues. When one of us is down, there is always one to reach out. So thank you life for putting these women on my path!
In a few months, a new page of Manager Of Myself will be written. This time in Provence on an exceptional day. I will tell you more very soon.
In the meantime, I'll take you to the Marrakech that I fell madly in love with.

When to go to Marrakech?
Preferably in spring or fall to enjoy the summer temperatures without the intense summer heat. Winter can also be a great season to go.
Jet lag in Marrakech
In winter, there is a 1 hour time difference between Morocco and France, 2 hours in summer.

Going to Marrakech: Which airline?
From Marseille, I traveled with the national airline of Morocco on a direct flight ROYAL AIR MAROC. Great company, I recommend it. Other companies such as TRANSAVIA et EASY JET offer direct routes from major cities. For your arrival at Marrakech airport, I advise you to book your transfer to the hotel. Expect to pay between €15 and €20 to get to the Medina.
Dress Code in Marrakech
Morocco is a conservative country, proper dress is required so as not to shock.
Avoid short skirts and daring necklines.
A little tea?
If you are invited for tea, do not refuse, your host might be offended.

Money, banks, exchange in Marrakech
The currency of Morocco is the dirham (Dhs). The rate is currently around 11 Dhs for 1€. You can change your currency in one of the many exchange offices at the airport but also in town, in the Guéliz district or in the medina.
They are usually open every day from 8am to 20pm and offer similar rates, without commission. You can of course also withdraw money from an ATM of a local bank or use the Western Union services generally available in banks. Be careful, banks are only open Monday to Friday from 8:15am to 15:30pm.

Health and Vaccines in Marrakech
No vaccinations are required to travel to Morocco. However, it is recommended to be up to date with your vaccinations.
Although Morocco is a healthy country, some precautions should be taken to avoid intestinal problems, in particular:
- Drink only bottled mineral water: Sidi Harazem, Imouzzer and Sidi Ali are still, Oulmès is sparkling.
- Do not eat raw, unpeeled fruits and vegetables, as well as raw or undercooked meat.
- Find out before swimming in a wadi or lake.
- Protect yourself from heat and sunburn. – Wash your hands frequently.
My advice: take a little lemon cure before you leave and choose lemon-based dishes when you get there.

Telephone and Wi-Fi package in Marrakech
For phone addicts (like me #jasume) note that Morocco is not part of the EUROPE zone, it is very likely that your communications will not be supported by your operator. So avoid turning on your phone upon arrival with cellular data activated for abroad. Otherwise, you will be charged very quickly!
Check with your operator. At Orange, it is possible to order a PASS giving access to 3GB of internet + 30 min of calls + 50 unlimited text messages. All for €30.
Photography permit
It is always better to ask someone's permission if you want to take a picture of them. And if they refuse, don't insist too much, you will find another model later.
