Kayla and Fethawie planned their wedding in morocco for 1 year before the pandemic got involved. Alas, they decided to to run away one-on-one and to treat yourself to a elopement in Marrakech. A week filled with discoveries and the sole pleasure of celebrating their strong love together. Against all odds, they love each other and it's so beautiful. A back to basics that they share with us today.
With the beautiful images ofEric Rene Penoy, they tell us…
The organization of the elopement
“We spent over a year planning our wedding. We had planned to have it in Morocco with our family, but due to Covid-19, we had a hard time finalizing a timeline and date. So we decided to elope in One-on-one in Marrakech"

The atmosphere of the elopement
"We have chosen to stay on our minimalist celebration and just kiss thenatural aesthetic of the Moroccan color palette and its surroundings. We knew our photographers would be able to tell our story by highlighting our small details, our emotions and the natural lighting.

Choosing the elopement dress
"I chose this dress because I wanted something simple with a fuller skirt and a hint of nude underneath for a nod to the Moroccan desert. I also wanted something light since we had to walk during our elopement!"
The elopement budget
“With no guests, we were able to fund more adventures and activities during our wedding and week in Morocco.”

Their most moving memory
Kayla : “My most emotional memory is the morning of our elopement. What you thought was going to be a stressful and anxious day was actually the most enjoyable moment. We woke up really early, 5am so we could attend the sunrise in the Agafay desert. My husband helped me put on my dress, which was a special and intimate moment to share. I put on my Converse and we walked into the night with our photographers (now friends), to the top of a hill.
An overwhelming amount of emotions, both happiness and relief, washed over me as we exchanged vows. Knowing that we had reached this day was the most emotional memory and I am grateful to have shared it with Fethawie, Eric and Maria.”
Fethawie - " Exchanging our vows in the hill of the Afagay desert because it was a moment I had been looking forward to for a long time. Seeing my beautiful wife in such a beautiful place is a never-ending memory I will have. At that moment, I felt the most free and present in our relationship. Looking into her eyes and just being able to express my love and hear love was the best feeling."

Their best choice in organizing the elopement
“The best decision we made was to we run away. It was simple and intimate, which turned out to be the most rewarding choice. We were also able to spend more time with our photographers and they were able to capture us as a couple without stress!”

Advice from the newlyweds
“Do what makes you happy ! Planning a wedding can be stressful, and you'll hear a lot of opinions about how you should plan your day, what to wear, and where you should get married. Ultimately, your wedding day is about your commitment and life with your partner, so you should do what makes you both feel loved and ready to take the next step in your lives together.
When it comes to making decisions, if you’re on a budget, make sure to communicate to your partner what things are important to you and keep an open mind. If you’re flexible with your expectations, you can find ways to make your day special, even without expensive decorations and wardrobes. You can find stunning venues that don’t cost a fortune and use that money for more important things. For us, that was the photographers! Remember, the most valuable piece of your wedding is your wishes et time spent together"
