In the Mediterranean sweetness, Louise Valentine takes us to her home. For this 2023 season, the Var designer magnifies her couture vision of la dolce vita. lines Faithful to her eco-responsible values, she invents an ethical fashion that respects the world around her.

Louise Valentine, the story

“In my family, we love to create. Drawing, painting, writing and of course sewing are professions and hobbies that have been with us for several generations. So going to a fashion design school seemed obvious to me. I would be able to combine drawing and sewing. Bring to life what I had written on paper. 

Thanks to this school that trained me, I learned this profession that I love so much and I was able to walk the corridors of Sonia Rykiel, Nina Ricci, Loulou de la Falaise ... 

Once I had my diploma in my pocket, I was on my way to England to learn English. 

Back in France, I worked in a small company making embroidered tulle and lace scarves. That's when the wedding spark happened and I decided to get into wedding accessories: boleros, veils, stoles… I'm slowly starting to make dresses, encouraged by a photographer friend.

In 2018, my dresses become exclusively eco-responsible with certified materials that respect the planet and the ethics of my brides and the people who make the fabrics.

Dolce vita

For this 2023 collection, we stayed in Hyères. Castle Bay and its soul that embraces when you push its doors, gave me back the desire to create, after these difficult years of pandemic.  This place has awakened in me a desire for gentleness, to make life something calm and serene, to let myself be carried away by the heat of summer in light and soft dresses dotted with embroidery or pearls. 

Walk in this building overlooking the sea, close your eyes to listen to the cicadas singing, while strolling through the paths of a Provencal garden. Feel close to nature by wearing materials made from plants, which respect the planet and its inhabitants. 

Then wander along the corridors, climb a staircase from the 20s, step onto a balcony and find yourself dreaming tenderly. Stroll in the glass roof while discovering the sea. Let the silk slide over your skin, like a gentle caress. 

Finish with your feet on the still warm sand, then step into the sea and let the heat of a summer afternoon fly away in a veil of flowery tulle, to find the freshness of the Mediterranean.

This is “La Dolce Vita”.
