Wedding in Béziers
in an unusual location

Forever: When Love Challenges Walls

In the heart of Béziers, behind the walls steeped in history of theLa Prison Hotel, an unusual place has been transformed into a haven of love and daring.

This is where a wedding editorial out of the ordinary, conceived as an ode to the freedom of modern couples who wish to free themselves from traditional codes. Inspired by the raw and symbolic soul of this former rehabilitated prison, this shoot brings together a team of professionals passionate, united by the desire to create an atmosphere that is at once vintage, elegant and terribly contemporary.

Between unbridled creativity, shared perspectives and artisanal know-how, every detail has been thought out to inspire future brides and grooms to dare a marriage in their image, unique and unforgettable.

What is the genesis of this wedding inspiration?

For several months, I've been looking for an unusual, vintage-inspired wedding. I envisioned a modern bride and groom who break free from the traditional wedding codes.

The Hotel La Prison in Béziers

A little over a year ago I was contacted by a wedding planner to cover a British wedding in the prison hotel in Béziers. It is a very unusual 3-star hotel and restaurant which was created by ambitious buyers who renovated the former historic prison of Béziers located in the heart of its city. It's definitely a place worth seeing!

I didn't end up covering the very first wedding at this hotel, but I kept this venue in mind and it seemed perfect for my initial idea. The combination of the two inspired future brides and grooms to dare to choose an atypical location but one with a strong symbolism. Getting married in prison has the merit of being something you don't see every day.

Some tell us " you got life " when we announce that we are getting married and it resonated with me. We had found the ideal place!

The shooting team

It's obvious to me for any project, as if it were my own wedding, to collaborate with people I like, but above all whose work I admire. It is through this leitmotif that the shooting team was composed.

Ceremony Officiant

I was joined at the beginning of the project by Cécile Pagès, a resourceful ceremony officiant who works in the Aude and Hérault regions. We started to clear our minds together, over a pile of cappuccinos, then I showed her around the hotel.

Scenography and floral design

Then I really wanted to work on this project with Cathy Bernes. She is a talented wedding designer and florist. She is a real professional favorite that you absolutely must have in your team when you are someone who is a perfectionist with real attention to detail. I am systematically dazzled by each of her creations. She was a real pillar on this project, not to say a co-organizer, she was so involved! In a few words exchanged and a large mood board she understood my desires and I just had to give her free rein. That's how this immense graphic fresco was born to take pride of place at the center of the wedding ceremony!

Wedding dress

From the very beginning of the organization we knew that we wanted a short dress with a vintage look reminiscent of the looks of Twiggy or Jane Birkin. Finding a designer in the region who made this style of dress was no easy task. And then with Cathy's help I discovered Laure, the Marseille designer of Gisele and Simone who makes custom wedding dresses. She had two mini dresses in her collection. The first, which she upcycled from an old, second-hand long dress, was the main dress of the day. The second, asymmetrical and composed of a train, was for the evening.

MUHA

To continue in the spirit of this retro-modern look, Melanie Meyer, hairdresser and Laetitia Our makeup artist made our beautiful bride look beautiful.

 Groom's suit

For the groom's look, it's Blandin and Delloye, tailor in Toulouse who offered us this perfect navy blue double-breasted suit.

Accessories

Manon Ponson offered us a pair of cute blue embroidered panties, perfect for wearing under the dress and cuddling in the bedroom. And as it's her specialty, she made a mid-length veil for us embroidered with the words "linked in perpetuity" in the wedding colors. I love the colorful touches brought by the bride's accessories. And for the evening, our bride also wore beaded fingerless gloves from her collection.

Jewellery

Among the local creators, there are also Thamys, a jewelry workshop 15km from Béziers. I discovered Fanny's brand with the help of Cécile, while looking for a jewelry store in Hérault for this wedding. Her creations immediately caught my eye with their uniqueness and elegance. For future brides and grooms, you will find what you are looking for among her collection of wedding bands and engagement rings, and if you are looking for the five-legged sheep, you will definitely find it by creating a completely custom-made piece of jewelry.

Filmmaker

For the image part, it was obvious that we had to make a film of this project, and I suggested to Quentin Lacourt to join us for her cinematic and artistic style, which I love so much. And since I did her backstage work last year, I invited Camille to do ours for IN PERPETUALITY.

Cake design

And finally, the "cherry on the cake", the caramel cake with a raw concrete look was made by Laure, the pastry chef of deliciously good. A real treat!

The artistic direction

From the first visit, the place spoke for itself, I wanted to contrast with the raw aspect of the walls, the inscriptions, the lines, the idea being to bring modernity and elegance to this place in which no one would have the idea at first sight of getting married.

We wanted to play with the different codes of the prison for a rather cinematic result: everyone waiting in their cells, a first look in the form of a visiting room, a ceremony that takes on height in the central atrium of the prison, passionate intimate reunions between couples.

Also, for the choice of colors for the decor, we based ourselves on the two shades that recur most among certain walls and second-hand furniture: blue and orange. It is therefore on this duality that Cathy built the design of the wedding.

Professional advice for future brides and grooms

Take inspiration from the place. In the case of a wedding, decoration can quickly become a significant budgetary burden. We have desires, inspired by Pinterest, Instagram and images seen at other weddings. Often the venue you have chosen can serve as a common thread for the decoration, take inspiration from it, you will never be wrong: colors that are recurring, textures, etc. And sometimes even, the aura of the venue can save you from having to decorate a lot, some venues do not need much for your wedding to have a grandiose look! Your wedding designer will be able to advise you.
