Wedding at Malmont Castle in the Hérault

“Marriage is the desire of two to create something unique.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

Florence and Marion's wedding at the Château de Malmont is a day that resonates strongly. Two women of incredible beauty who say yes to each other. They take us into their winter wedding and their story so strong and intense.

With the beautiful images of Laetitia Leofold Photographer et Not a Photographer, they tell us…

Florence

If you had to describe yourself in a few words?
Marion describes Florence: Straight, fair, intelligent, grumpy, strong with a shell, caring and generous.

Your favorite song, and why?
For teenage years: Madonna, for college parties: Skrillex
For poetry: Jean Ferrat « the mountain ", for the rebellion: Renaud" where did i put my gun ", to go to work: Heuss" khapta ", for swimming years: Eminem" lose yourself »
And finally for love: LP « lost on you »

Marion

If you had to describe yourself in a few words?
Florence describes Marion: Happy, smiling and almost always in a good mood. Marion is sporty, always ready and has a mind of steel.
I love her integrity and her confidence when speaking. She is so easy-going that it is a real joy to share her life.

Your favorite song, and why?
For adolescence: Michael Jackson who I saw in concert in 97 hihi, for student evenings: Snoop Dog « smoke weed everyday ", young adult: Fugees, for basketball years: Des'ree" Life »
Since Florence has been in my life: “ what would i be without you » Jean Ferrat
For Love: LP «  Lost on you »

The initial meeting

Florence is a teacher and Marion is the after-school program director at the same school. We first met at a meeting about the school's emergency preparedness plan. Then, in March, Florence made the first move with a great question: "What sports do you play?" Everything happened very quickly after that. We moved in together, bought an apartment, entered into a civil partnership, and then proposed.

Life as a couple

We're a very close couple; we do everything together! As former athletes, we have a little ritual, inspired by Hal Elrod's book "Miracle Morning": we get up three times a week at 5 a.m. to go for a run. Besides the physical aspect, it allows us to enjoy each other's company before starting our day and to reconnect in the evening.

We are a very active couple and want to enjoy life to the fullest; we love doing everything we can to afford our trips. In two years we will have been to Madeira, Greece, London, the Canaries and our honeymoon on the American West Coast: a dream!!!

We also really like art, the exhibitions on Paris that we see regularly, dance and fashion.

Our relationship hasn't experienced any downturns so far, we're keeping our fingers crossed that it continues.

Their couple addresses

A hotel: A hotel in Monemvasia with a sea view, magnificent
A restaurant: We don't have a preference but we love downtown Montpellier and its many restaurants.
A café: more of a place, the lez market
Shops: home paradise & pop-up store La canopée for eco-responsible and made in France purchases
A favorite country: the island of Madeira to get away from it all without going far, Burma
An artist: Julien Meyzindi (Marion’s brother, dancer at the Paris Opera)
An exhibition: “Christian Dior, designer of dreams” (2017-2018)

The marriage proposal

It was Marion who made the proposal, or rather proposals. In July 2017, Florence went to Burma for 23 days without Marion. Just before her departure, while Marion was in Montpellier and Florence in Paris, she sent her a text message with a video set to the song "Same Love": Will you be my wife? Florence will simply answer with a yes.

Upon returning from their trip, life resumed without any plans for the wedding. On December 31, 2017, the clock struck midnight in the Pyrenees mountains, and Marion decided to get down on one knee in front of our friends. Wearing a hat, Florence threw her arms around her, her eyes red with tears, and said YES. The first dress fitting took place on January 6th.

Wedding planning

We quickly settled on a date. We wanted February 14th, but that meant waiting until 2021. So in 2019, it was February 16th. Why in winter? To avoid doing what everyone else was doing, and especially to avoid being rushed and ending up with vendors who were already fully booked.
We were very organized, we started with the dresses and the places. The fact of having chosen the castle of Malmont influenced us on other choices of dresses, less bohemian, as it was planned at the beginning. For the caterer we did not multiply the possibilities and we met three providers.

The anecdote of the preparations concerns our videographer and photographer. We went to the chic & bohemian wedding fair at La Banquière in early 2018. The fair allowed us to choose our hairdresser and makeup artist. Laëtitia and Erik were there but we didn't stop at their stand (even though Marion had VERY noticed Laëtitia ;-)!). Finally we approached Laëtitia via the mariage.net website without making the connection with her presence at the fair and she introduced us to Erik.

At the same show the following year and just a few weeks before the wedding, we met Botanique & vieilles dentelles. Immediately seduced by their work, we called on them for the flowers. This winter wedding forced us to make some concessions: choice of flowers, decoration ideas, secular ceremony indoors… But it was also some great discoveries. And it must be said that we were extremely lucky with the weather. A beautiful spring day on this February 16th. So much so that we were warm in our Sézane sweaters from the civil ceremony.

We highly recommend mariage.net for its service provider offering, the creation of the wedding website and the development of the seating plan.

Wedding decoration

Theme " Dolce Vita » with bright colours and Italian connotations in the decoration, food, drink etc.

The wedding day at the Château de Malmont

Obviously, there were a lot of emotions; the day went by far too quickly, and we felt like we didn't really get to enjoy ourselves because we wanted to make the most of it for everyone. There was some frustration with the meal, as we barely touched our plates. But otherwise, not a hitch, not a delay, not a problem… everything was exactly as we had dreamed and wanted it to be.
At first we were a little sad not to be able to have a religious ceremony but in the end the secular ceremony is much more personal and moving. We do not regret the choice of our symbolic ritual (the bottle of wine! Looking forward to discovering our letters and tasting it in 5 years). We also really enjoyed the exchange of wedding rings in the secular ceremony, it was festive and joyful for the closing of the latter.
Welcoming our wedding cake in white jeans and a t-shirt was unusual but it represents us, the photos of this moment are great.

A day that reflected who we are, and a huge thank you to the service providers without whom we could not have achieved this.

The wedding budget at the Château de Malmont

"We would like to thank our families, without them this wedding would not have been the same, they helped us a lot. Our budget is around €20"

Their best memory

Marion My entrance into the town hall on my father's arm, waiting for Florence whom I hadn't seen since the previous evening. And Florence's entrance, seeing her break down in emotion and walk towards me, my heart was racing.

Florence: I have the same best memory as Marion. My entry into the town hall. Just for the emotion, discovering Marion and saying to myself "we're there". If I had to do it again I would walk a little less quickly to enjoy it a little more.

A tip for future brides and grooms

  • Get organized in advance and be square.
  • Enjoy the day because it goes by so quickly, you want to give to all your guests because they are there for you but you forget yourself and forget to live your day.
  • Take the time to do things yourself because it makes the pleasure of the moment last.
