Bohemian wedding in Marrakech – Charlie + AJ

Bohemian wedding in Marrakech
Marrakech, as if it were meant to be: a destination marriage of bohemian elegance and the art of hospitality
Today, a wedding is no longer just a single day. It's become a journey, an experience to share, a memory to be given as much to loved ones as to oneself. It's this generous and profoundly contemporary vision that led Charlie and AJ to leave Australia to celebrate their union under the Australian sun. Marrakech.
Rather than a traditional reception, the couple envisioned a multi-day retreat where family and friends, coming from all corners of the world, could finally meet, share, and create common memories. A celebration conceived as a true immersion, between the Agafay Desert, lush gardens, and Moroccan hospitality.
At the heart of this getaway, Villa Taj It established itself as an exceptional setting. Privatized for the occasion, this confidential address hosted a succession of carefully orchestrated moments: a welcome dinner under the stars, a revisited henna ceremony, a secular ceremony under the centuries-old olive trees, a sunset cocktail and a brunch by the pool to prolong the magic.
Under the objectives of Tali PhotographyMarianne Labadie and David Garnier, founders of Villa Taj and wedding planners specializing in destination weddings in MarrakechThey look back at the behind-the-scenes of this cosmopolitan celebration where every detail was designed to bring cultures closer together, surprise guests and celebrate love with sincerity.
A valuable source of inspiration for all couples who dream of an elegant, exotic wedding that is resolutely focused on the experience.
The initial meeting
« Charlie and AJ live in Australia, they chose Morocco and more particularly Marrakech for its climate and its captivating atmosphere. They immediately fell in love with the villa and its reception areas with very bohemian chic decoration.
The marriage proposal
"The proposal took place in Australia far from their families who live in England. Hence the need to bring them together with their friends in one place that had the capacity to accommodate everyone"
Wedding venue in Marrakech
" They have finally opted for a civil wedding in Australia with a small group, then a bigger party in Marrakech a few months later. The choice of Morocco and Marrakech was ultimately obvious because they loved this place both of you. This allowed to make discover ce country to his family and to their friends.
For the location of the D-day they held absolutely to be accommodated their close to have them nearthem for two days and be able to party together.
they have so privatized the villa Taj Marrakech. They have it adored for its architecture and its landscaped garden on which we have organized their secular ceremony.
A century-old olive tree avenue is nestled in the heart of the landscaped garden, ideal for a shaded, natural ceremony. and so magical with its vaporous veils.
Wedding planning in Marrakech
"They didn't want not a traditional marriage. They wanted something that their looks like. Their The primary goal was to create a symbiosis between all the guests who didn't know each other and didn't have the same culture. We wanted everyone to feel good, for people to party together but also for them to be surprised. Since a good number of the guests were going to be traveling for several days, they wanted make the most of it!
That is why they have decided to organize a welcome party for their friends in the desert, to to relax and this set the mood for the rest of the festivities. The wow effect was clearly there because they had kept the surprise. They got on a bus without knowing where they were going and they are found in the middle of the desert to party.
The next day, we organized a traditional henna ceremony. It was very beautiful, very moving and very festive! The little extra is that we organized it in the 1001 lights tent of the villa emotion guaranteed!
For the wedding day they have opted for a secular ceremony. The advantage with this type of ceremony is that we are totally free, we do what we want! We loved imagining it, the build and decorate it. For the rest of the evening, our main goal was for people to dance and party to the max. So we didn't wait until the end of dinner to start the party, the DJ got it going right from the cocktail!
Finally Sunday We suggested to the bride and groom to organize a most relaxed brunch possible with swimming pool, good music and Massages in the program.
To be able to organize everything and manage remotely we scheduled Skype meetings and organized everything on our Excel spreadsheets. This allowed to the bride and groom to be serene, We came up with bohemian decorating ideas, a theme that was close to their hearts.”
Wedding decoration
"The atmosphere of Marrakech was already a big part of the job! We opted for very natural colors, white, green and terracotta to recall the walls of the city.
The Villa Taj Marrakech offer already a very beautiful frame so we kept it simple, olive leaves, white pompoms and wicker lanterns with pampas grass, Moroccan rugs and very bohemian chic natural chairs! Thanks to our retro planning and image bank system, we chose all the decoration together via our Skype planning appointments.
Wedding budget in Marrakech
"It was complicated for them not to crack on all ! They wanted especially to please their close and it was difficult to compromise because you can't do everything fit into a budget. So we ranked the different budget items in order of priority to see what was really important for them. "
Their best memory
“Cocktail madness with great music and a beautiful sunset! Everyone was dancing, without exception, and nothing could their make more fun!
We also loved the day after the wedding, it was great to to be able to offer to the bride and groom the possibility to enjoy a little more time with everyone, while being (much) more relaxed. Brunch under the olive trees of the villa is magical and the 25-meter swimming pool is perfect for everyone to swim in.
Advice from newlyweds
- Listen to yourself! It's difficult, there are a lot of decisions to make in organizing a wedding so you really have to ask yourself the right questions and take the time to think about it: what is important for you ? What do we want our guests to remember from this event? What is like us?
- And otherwise enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, everyone says it but we can't imagine how quickly time flies!
- Future brides and grooms are also advised to don't skimp on the photographer's position, to try to find a photographer whose style you really like it because in the end the photos are all that remain!
