From New York to Le Bassin – Marion + Julien
CONTENTS
From their meeting in Paris, they jumped head first into a hectic professional life. Hopping from one country to another, it is in New York that they live today. And it is at Cap Ferret that they wanted to celebrate their wedding. Like a delicious recreational escape, Marion and Julien designed a trip in their image, warm, elegant and generous. A day that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
With the beautiful images of Chloe Fayollas, Marion tells us more…
The initial meeting
"We met 7 years ago in Paris. At that time, Julien had to move to Singapore for a professional opportunity and I had to move to Brazil to finish my studies.
Without asking myself too many questions, five months later, I decided to meet Julien in Singapore. We wanted to give ourselves a chance and we felt that we had to try the adventure. We were able to do what we were passionate about: meeting new cultures and traveling in the region. After two years spent in the tropical heat of Singapore and an unforgettable number of trips, we decided to return to Paris to be close to our families and... French gastronomy.
Two years later, Julien landed a job in New York and we had to decide very quickly. After all, it's a city we love and visit every year. We are won over by the positive energy of this city.
All these life changes and projects together have brought us much closer together.”

The marriage proposal
"It was in February 2017 during a short stay at the Presqu'île de la Caravelle in Martinique. The temperatures are still freezing in NYC and we are only a 3-hour flight from the island. Julien surprised me by changing hotels without me noticing. The first evening, he takes me to a gastro restaurant and I don't suspect anything until the waiter winks at me while checking with me that he had put on the right music :) I only understand at that moment that something is happening..."

Cap Ferret Wedding
“There are three main moments: the search for the location, the fine-tuning a month or two before and the intermediate period where you feel like you have a lot of time and at the same time not really.
Agreeing on the location was a first step and it's the most fun step. We're planning! We wanted to celebrate our union in a place close to the water, which gives a holiday feel, which makes our guests travel and above all a place with a history that linked us. Our choice fell on Le Bassin d'Arcachon and we fell in love with Villa La Tosca during the last visit. Feet in the water, a family setting and accommodation on site.
The last two months, we've been looking forward to the big day. Even though we've made good progress on the big items, it's all about fine-tuning the details. This is also the time when your guests contact you the most. For our part, we decided to come back a week before in order to give ourselves time to adjust to the time difference, relax with a stop at the Spa Les Sources de Caudalie, enjoy seeing our friends beforehand and take care of the last preparations. Surprisingly, this period wasn't stressful for us because we felt like we had made a lot of progress. This didn't stop Julien from getting sick the week before our wedding. Surely because the stress of the preparation was subsiding. Fortunately, he had time to recover ;) »

Wedding decoration
“We chose a place that was sufficient in itself, but being a fan of decoration it was a pleasure for me to define the universe of our wedding.
The challenge was to create a refined decoration in keeping with the seaside, while avoiding the stereotypes of decorations filled with boats, shells and white sand... Our inspirations: soft colours, nature, washed wood, grassy plants reminiscent of the seaside. We were won over by the magnificent floral proposals of Karine des Muettes Rieuses.
For the guest gift, after hesitating for a long time with espadrilles, we opted for foutas because we thought that our guests could take them home as a holiday souvenir but also use them to enjoy the region.
As for the invitations, Julien imagined the design, something refined with small drawings of the New York skyline and the church of Andernos, delimited by the sea which is the common thread of the wedding.
The next day at brunch, we really wanted our guests to enjoy the pool and the beach. We planned a small concert with an artist, Kelly from The Voice, inflated floats for the children and set up games like Molkky.

The wedding budget
"Overall we stuck to our budget. The only thing we had to increase was the reception venue. We fell for a venue that was a bit out of our price range but we couldn't refuse it: right on the water, the setting is unique!"
Their best memory
“Several highlights: arriving at the church where we met for the first time all the faces from the four corners of the world and the surprise choir organized by our friends. Then, at the table during the entertainment prepared by our witnesses and the family. Lots of emotions and laughter, especially since we didn't suspect anything!
And a special memory: The famous vintage Fiat 500 that we found after a long search broke down 30 minutes before leaving for the ceremony. Our witnesses played their roles to the full and managed to get it started and bring it back to us on time. This didn't stop the car from stalling again on the road, under the amused gaze of passers-by. A bit of stress at the time but we laugh about it today ;) »

Advice from the newlyweds
“I even have three!”
- We had in mind a wedding where our loved ones would feel invited without being too bothered by the constraints of the preparation. Hire a Wedding Planner to help us was one of the best decisions, especially when you live remotely. It doesn't mean that the wedding won't be like you, it all depends on how involved you are, but it will help you overcome technical issues when you're not there and save you time.
- The other advice: surround yourself with the right people to relive these moments through images and sound. We are very happy to have crossed paths with Chloe Fayollas who was very attentive to us. We were looking for bright photos that would bring out the emotions but also the environment of the wedding. Nothing too frozen or sad. We loved (and our guests too) his super easy and relaxed contact that put us at ease right away. We would love to do a post-wedding session in NYC.
- We absolutely do not regret having surrounded ourselves with a videographer in addition to the photographer. The only thing we want after the wedding is to relive again and again these moments that have passed very quickly and to review the small details that are quickly forgotten. We had the chance to go and take pictures the day before our wedding in one of our favorite places in Cap Ferret and I found that these moments before the wedding allowed us to find ourselves and disconnect from all the organization.
We can't wait to relive these moments through images and sound. The list of service providers for a wedding can seem very long but I don't regret having prioritized these 3 :) »
