Mediterranean wedding in Saint Tropez – Margaux + Lucas

Couture Wedding in Saint Tropez
For these two Lyonnais, passion came and went. Years later, their reunion made it clear that they would never leave each other again. Getting married in the South on a beach was a dream come true. Thanks to the unwavering support of their families, they celebrated their wedding for 3 days. A Mediterranean wedding in the beautiful atmosphere of Saint-Tropez.
With the beautiful images of Melanie Bultez, Margaux tells us…
The initial meeting
We met through Lucas's best friend, who introduced us at a restaurant with his friends. A kiss followed, but nothing more, and Lucas wouldn't give up on winning me over for three months. He even learned my favorite song. After two passionate years together, we broke up for two and a half years. I went on a road trip, and Lucas did the same. We finally reconnected thanks to a graduation interview Lucas did about restaurants.
Following that, Lucas suggested we meet again, and we realized we had both changed a lot. Eight months later, Lucas proposed marriage.

The marriage proposal
Eight months back together, we are in full confinement, I'm celebrating my 25th birthday. Lucas is organizing a champagne cocktail party and hands me a box. I don't understand, and Lucas, taken aback, says: "You don't understand, I want you to be my wife."
What followed was a crazy planning process for the wedding 1 year later.
The reception venue in the South of France
We chose South for our family home, and the 1051 because we dreamed of get married on a beach. We got married at St Tropez but we didn't like the bling-bling side.
The challenge was to find a place that reflected who we are, and then we found 1051. We loved Max, the owner. Working with him was very smooth; he pays great attention to detail, and the place is welcoming, classy, and yet very simple.

Wedding planning in Saint Tropez
For a year, it was a lot of back and forth to St. Tropez, which is why we needed Charlotte, our wedding planner. It was very stressful; I felt like my life was on the line at every stage because I'm a real perfectionist. We also had a lot of help from our mothers, who were very involved.
Choosing the wedding dress
For the wedding dress, we chose Nicolas Fafiotte, a great couturier from Lyon, one of the best parts of the wedding. We created two outfits from A to Z, one of which he even restarted because I changed my mind during the creation. He helped a lot with the original ideas, and he became a friend. We designed the dress in two parts: the evening underdress on which he sewed a tulle petticoat that he cut during the evening. This created a strong moment, the dress evolves before the eyes of the guests (without going to the toilets).
Worked in transparency, embroidered on a tulle, each embroidered flower was sewn by hand and carefully thought out on this tulle according to my body and the movement of the dress. Just by cutting the petticoat, it looks like another dress.
At church I also had a veil over my shoulders.

The outdoor religious ceremony
I am not very religious, I wanted a secular ceremony, with my feet in the sand. Lucas was keen to get married in church, but I did not find myself in the churches we visited, which I found too mystical. Charlotte suggested this small open-air chapel which was a perfect compromise, not to mention the charm it gave to the wedding. Under the trees, half shade, half sun, with an outdoor altar, we had the traditional church side and the original and charming side.
The gospel
I discovered gospel music on a trip to New York with my family years ago. Fascinated by gospel music and the emotion it evokes, I dreamed of having one at my wedding.
The Wedding Planner
Choosing a wedding planner is important because she becomes almost a confidante. For a year, we spoke to her on the phone almost every day. She reassured me a lot, guided me, and took care of the day-of coordination, which was essential, especially during a time like the COVID pandemic. Without her, everything would have been different. Charlotte has an incredible knowledge of St. Tropez and the vendors (for us, being from Lyon, that was a real plus), and she gave us invaluable advice.

Wedding decorations in Saint Tropez
The wedding took place in the south, so the atmosphere naturally turned towards relaxation, the south, the beach, and chic. We didn't have a color theme, everything came from the invitation illustrated by the artist. Paulo Mariotti.
flowers were white and green. The invitations and thank yous were supervised by a graphic designer, who coordinated my wishes and Paulo Mariotti's creativity.

Their most moving memory
The doves that were released during the cocktail party by my brother and Lucas's sister in memory of our grandmothers, to whom we were very close.
This moment was incredible, the release of doves was done to the music "Runnin'" by Beyoncé accompanied by speeches from our loved onesAt sunset, it was idyllic, a timeless moment.

Advice from the newlyweds
Do not repeat: inflict all this stress on myself because a wedding is necessarily magnificent. There are always unexpected things, but the guests don't realize it, it's just a matter of detail.
My advice :
- 1 year is necessary for preparation, it takes a lot of time, in an already busy daily life.
- Any further enjoy every moment during the planning. Every little moment is extraordinary, every moment counts! The planning lasts a year and after the wedding, we miss it in a way.
- If I had one regret: not enjoying the big day enough as a bride and groom. Between the guests, the surprises, the photos, videos etc, we didn't see the time pass nor could we fully enjoy our guests.
- Avoid the endless meal of starter-main course-cheese-dessert. Prefer the aperitif dinner or main course + cheese-dessert. We opted for an aperitif as a starter, then dishes to share at the table. One guest per table was elected to cut the beef ribs and several side dishes to share. The dinner was very warm, like a restaurant among friends.
- Another piece of advice, the most valuable in my opinion: there is no marriage code, it's your day, you do what you want and how you want.
