Symbiosis: Couture poetry at the Carrières des Lumières

How did the initiative for this shooting come about? 

Prelude Masterclass is a workshop. But not only that. Prelude is an opportunity to create and explore new things, to step off the beaten path and away from current trends.

The idea of ​​this workshop is to create concepts and images that speak to a high-end clientele in the wedding industry, while pushing them to discover and test new designs and innovative and original ideas.

It is also a social event. With around ten participants, who will be able to learn about the business side and upgrading, then put their lessons into practice during the 2 days of content creation.

The goal is to create a link, a real community of photographers who can then support each other and help each other progress.

We want to celebrate community, sharing, kindness and creativity.

Students will be pampered and supported through engaging and motivating activities.

Location of the couture editorial in Provence

Visually, a limestone quarry can be quite spectacular. The quarry walls can be very high, with layers of rock that bear witness to millions of years of geological history. The color of the limestone can vary, ranging from chalky white to beige or gray, depending on the minerals present in the rock. The interplay of natural light filtering through openings in the quarry walls creates striking plays of light and shadow. These formations add texture and dimension to the space, creating a visually dynamic landscape that greatly inspired us for this photoshoot.

The shooting team

When selecting our team of service providers for this project, we took care to find a balance between talents already well established in the world of weddings and new faces full of passion and audacity. This mix of experiences and fresh perspectives is essential to create a unique and creative event. We have chosen to integrate emerging talents into our team, professionals who are as passionate as they are motivated, who bring a new vision and original ideas. We firmly believe in giving these young talents a chance to make themselves known and prove what they can do. Their overflowing creativity and their desire to surpass themselves are valuable elements to breathe new energy into each project.

More than technical skills, we were looking for caring, attentive people who were deeply committed to their profession.

The artistic direction

"In the lair of the quarries of lights, where the stone whispers history, our vision was intended to be a subtle echo of the majesty of the place. Struck by the raw grandeur of the limestone blocks, by this omnipresent white that sculpts the space, the perspectives called me to compose a scene that seemed predestined, a symbiosis almost written in marble.

To color this painting, I limited myself to a palette of colors borrowed from the earth itself: pure white, soft ecru, sand beige. A choice that might seem predictable, but yet, each nuance was a carefully considered decision, an invitation to dive in. It was crucial that our achievement not be confused with the clichés of a traditional wedding, but that it reveal itself as a work of art where each element finds its reason for being, where each detail whispers its belonging.

We, artisans of the ephemeral, were keen to respect the essence of the wedding while blending our decor into the landscape of these quarries. The arrangements of the ceremony, the ornaments of the table, had to blend naturally, as if these elements had always existed here, in perfect harmony with the mineral setting.

The choice of materials was essential: textures that intertwine, that interact with each other, creating a coherent and tactile whole, pieces of a puzzle destined to come together.

What we were looking for was not surprise, but rather the evidence of integration. That our ceremony scene, that our table, stand out not by a garish extravagance, but by their natural, undeniable presence, like an organic extension of the quarry itself. A place full of history transformed into a scene of communion, where each element, each texture, each color resonates with the echo of the place, making our creation an additional page in its great book of stone.
