Seaside wedding on the French Riviera – Cléo + Giovanni

From an informal request, they naturally immersed themselves in the organization of their wedding. Far from traditions, Cléo and Giovanni imagined a wedding in their image. A intimate day in the bay of angelsA wedding that plays on the superfluous and gives pride of place to their essentials.

The initial meeting

"We grew up in the same town, with mutual friends, and we knew each other by sight. I sometimes worked in the bar he ran, then I worked more and more and we got to know each other and got closer little by little. One day, something clicked and we never left each other's side."

The marriage proposal

There was no real request, we had already talked about getting married but in an "informal" way, then our son was born and then some rather special and difficult years. Last year I started to think about it more and more and when I went to a nice place I would say to Giovanni " It would be nice to get married here." Until one day he told me, " find out, let's choose a date " and that's how we started planning the wedding in June 2021.

Six months before the wedding, on my birthday, on vacation in Marie Galante, at sunset, I received a very tender and very shy official proposal.

The reception venue

“We live in Bologna but Cléo is originally from Nice and it was clear from the start that we wanted to get married on the French Riviera, near the sea.

When we saw the pictures of Villa Djunah, it seemed like a great solution to us and on our first visit we were immediately convinced. It was one of the few places near the water that offered different areas, indoor and outdoor spaces. So we decided, with their events manager, to organize an aperitif on the beach and a reception in the beautiful gardens.

Wedding planning

"After deciding that we were going to we get married in Nice, we thought about the date and chose June 2nd, which is the Republic Day in Italy and being on a Friday this year allowed guests to move around more comfortably and enjoy a longer weekend. We really wanted people to feel like they are on holiday and enjoy the Côte d'Azur to the fullest.

Having decided to take care of the organization ourselves and do it remotely, we immediately looked a restaurant or a place that had a restaurant in order to reduce the number of vendors as much as possible. For the reception and the secular ceremony, we visited several places and sent a lot of emails, and the Villa Djunah was perfect because it offers many services.

For the music, we decided that we wanted it to be brazilian music live and, with the help of friends, we found leleco. A phone call was enough and we confided in him, who found musicians and dancers.

The wine cellar where we had a drink after the civil ceremony, we found and reserved two days before during a walk in the city center.

Wedding decoration

"The invitation was made by an artist friend, Joseph DeMattia, who included it in his latest series of works “Pettegolezzi” (Gossip). All the invitations were screen-printed and signed by the artist.

There was no real theme, we kept the decorations of the Villa Djunah and added garlands of colored paper flowers made by Cléo for the pergola where the secular ceremony was held. For the tables, we only placed on the tablecloths branches of Bougainvillea picked that morning at my father's house.

The wedding budget

Between 30 and 35 K€ per guest more or less 200€/pers

Their most moving memory

" Probably the secular ceremony, initially not planned, we thought of having the ceremony only at the town hall but the rooms could not accommodate all the guests, we decided to have a second ceremony for everyone.

It was all very moving: the arrival with our parents, the speeches of our friends and relatives, the exchange of wishes, the presence of our son, the music... »
