Christmas wedding in Mauguio
An intimate and arty Christmas wedding in Mauguio, between second-hand, raw emotions and unpretentious elegance.
December 28thwhen the winter light softens everything and the air still smells magicClara and Kieran said "I do" in Mauguio.
A wedding that defied convention, conceived as a warm interlude rather than a grand spectacle, reflecting this artistic couple who prefer the real to the new, the intimate to the grandiose.
Between a meeting without love at first sight but full of foundational conversations, a London proposal on an almost deserted bridge and a celebration organized in two months flat, their story tells a different idea of marriage: spontaneous, committed, deeply personal.
Flea markets, Vinted, Spotify playlists, guitar and Chantilly lace…Here, every detail has a soul, every choice has meaning. An ode to simple love, creativity, and the freedom to do things one's own way.
All of this was immortalized with talent by Angelo Lacancellera.
The initial meeting
We met in 2019. Kieran is English and was living in London at the time. He had been a model for a few years and had just signed a contract with Celine in Paris. Clara was a fashion photographer and had model friends who introduced us. There was no instant attraction! It took a year (and both of us being single) for a conversation about food to show them they were meant for each other.
The marriage proposal
Clara joined Kieran in London in early October 2023. He was there for work, and we hadn't seen each other for two weeks. He organized a surprise reunion, and we went to dinner on the rooftop of Harrods. Super chic gourmet restaurant! He was very nervous. After the delicious dinner, we walked to the Albert Bridge where he proposed on bended knee. He had prepared a speech, but he was so overcome with emotion that he couldn't deliver it. We were alone together; it was so romantic!

Christmas wedding in Mauguio
We wanted a wedding that reflected who we are. simple and intimateNo large hall or grand venue. Our ideal wedding was a restaurant surrounded by our loved ones after the civil ceremony. So we chose the restaurant Le Scène in Mauguio. The welcome was fantastic, and their suggestion was perfect for us. We were looking for a place to have a drink. We had a ceremony at the town hall at 16:30 pm on December 28th. Not very traditional! And with half our guests being English, we needed to get the drinks started quickly. We found the Corner Pub across the street from the town hall. An English name that seemed like a godsend. Everything was within walking distance, and once again, the welcome was top-notch. !
Wedding planning
We organized everything with the help of Clara's witnesses, Léa and Juliette. We have organized a wedding in two months Mission impossible for some, child's play for us. We didn't want to wait, so everything happened very spontaneously.
Wedding decoration
Flea markets and garage sales Everything was secondhand. We had a huge Pinterest account, but what mattered to us were classy things and, above all, nothing new.
The dining room had very warm tones, so we opted for white flowers in small, clear vases, candlesticks, and luminous table runners. A sort of second magic !

The bride and groom's outfits
The bride's outfit
For Clara, the mission to find a wedding dress in two months proved more perilous. After a few unsuccessful fittings in secondhand shops, she finally saw THE DRESS on Vinted. An Italian Vinted user had worn it twenty years ago. It was entirely embroidered for a price we won't mention, it was so ridiculously low. No alterations needed, it was perfect! The shoes were Carven, which Clara adores and has owned for a few years now—super comfortable. Black, very rock 'n' roll! She then dreamed of lace sleeves. No brand or secondhand website had anything like what she had in mind, so it was Grandma Chantal who made them with Chantilly lace bought at the Saint Pierre market in Paris. And the veil was found on Vinted. Everything was ivory colored.
The groom's outfit
For Kieran, we went to visit a cathedral in the London suburbs. They have a real "charity shop" culture there, the equivalent of Emmaus or the Red Cross in France. There are some on every street. After this visit, we found a grey Paul Smith suit which we loved. The inside was embroidered.
For the shirt, we bought three on Vinted and he finally chose the one that looked the most rock star! Kieran is a guitarist, he needed some lace for his David Bowie look.
Acne had given him his shoes for a concert for the brand. They had a dark pink, almost burgundy, detail. So Kieran wanted my wedding bouquet to match.
The Fashion Budget
Our shopping budget was for both of them €270, the 3 Vinted shirts included. Unbeatable! We really wanted to have nothing newEven if it had a few imperfections. And we were delighted!

Their most moving memory
Clara: The moment after we said "I do," when I realized I was standing before the person with whom I was going to share my life. And the speeches from my sister and my best friend.
Kieran: The witnesses when they played the violin at the entrance to the town hall. Also the photo shoot beforehand by the lake, when I arrived with my guitar; I couldn't even sing because I was crying too much!
Their best choice in wedding planning
Clara: Everything! Honestly, not a single false note. I think the best choice was to listen to us and to do things according to what suits us. For example, I eat little at lunchtime and I don't like to stay up all night, so a visit to the town hall at 16:30 pm and a dinner until 2 am made more sense than renting a hall where I would have pushed people out the door once my herbal tea hour was over!
Kieran: The decision to make some playlists I'll use Spotify to set the mood for drinks and dinner, and I'll use the stage at the restaurant to sing my New Year's wishes. with my witnesses.
Advice from the newlyweds
Clara: Invite the people you feel comfortable with, and set your own rules! Everyone will have something to say, but you know what's best for you. And above all, don't neglect your time together. There are plenty of people to talk to, but don't feel guilty about spending a little less time with them. It's better if you share the same memories! And then choose trustworthy people to handle the things you don't want to deal with. I can't thank my two amazing bridesmaids enough; they handled all the hiccups while I just had to be happy.
Kieran: The wedding ceremony lasts only one day, but you'll spend your life together. So try to make every day, every moment, as special as possible. (Never forget to say "I love you.")
