Spring wedding at Domaine de Verderonne – Valentine + Thibault

Spring Wedding
at the Domaine de Verderonne
On a crazy idea, they got married in secret at Las Vegas. Without losing sight of a beautiful big party with their loved ones in France. Upon their return, they give themselves 1 year to organize everything.
For these two Parisians madly in love, the obvious choice to get married near the capital is a natural one. A florist by trade, Valentine already knows where the party will take place. A festive, colorful and flowery day in a charming estate.
Valentine and Thibault take us into their pop wedding with Las Vegas inspirations. With images from their photographer Chloe Vollmer-Lo and their videographer less is more, they testify…
The initial meeting
We met on a dating app in the fall of 2022. We had an immediate crush. After our meeting, everything happened very quickly, very naturally. A real no-brainer!
The marriage proposal
There wasn't really a proposal! Three weeks after we met, Thibaut mentioned, half-jokingly, a wedding in Las Vegas. I loved the idea, and we planned everything in secret, leaving ourselves the option of not going through with it if we had any doubts. 5 months later, we flew to the United States. Before leaving, we had a custom-made ring, so I was waiting for a real proposal. The day before the wedding, we were in the middle of nature in a national park, the perfect place. But Thibaut had left the ring in the car... The proposal finally took place in the chapel parking lot 15 minutes before the wedding, and we were so stressed that I barely remember it!
When we got back, we quickly blocked a date for our wedding in France with all our loved ones. We gave ourselves 1 year to organize everything.
Wedding in Hauts-de-France, at the Domaine de Verderonne
I work in the wedding industry, and I already knew the Verderonne Estate. I remember thinking when I discovered it, "If I ever get married, it will be here." Luckily, it met all our criteria and Thibaut also really liked it!
We were looking for a charming venue, not too far from Paris, with a beautiful location for an indoor ceremony, offering sleeping accommodations for us and a few close friends.
The uniqueness of Verderonne lies in its Dutch greenhouse, the perfect setting for our secular ceremony. Even if we knew that we would be a little cramped with more than 100 guests, the cachet of this greenhouse was worth it! And as a florist, it was magical to get married there.
The weather was particularly exceptional for April 6, which allowed us to enjoy a cocktail in the garden adjoining the greenhouse. Another curiosity that charmed everyone: the dance hall, a Louis XVII theater opening onto the dining room, unique!
Our friends particularly liked the dormitories which allowed them to avoid having to take the car and to fully enjoy the evening.

Wedding planning
We started organizing everything when we got back from Las Vegas, 1 year before the wedding. I am a florist/event manager at Aude Rose, so organizing is kind of my job. So it was a pleasure to organize this day for us. I already knew some good service providers, which we validated together.
The meal was super important to us, being vegetarian, we were looking for a caterer who knew how to cook it creatively! We quickly booked the caterer Marie Julien Cuisine.
The other key choice was our photographer! After much research, we kept coming back to Chloé Vollmer-Lo's work. We were seduced by her ability to capture moments, and her treatment of colors. We love bright colors, I absolutely wanted the flowers to stand out in the right color!
2 months before the wedding, I changed my mind on one point: I wanted a video souvenir of this day. Without telling Thibaut, I contacted Léa from Less is more, luckily she was available! I decided to offer us this souvenir. Without any regrets! We are more than happy with the result.
Once the providers were chosen, we tried, as much as possible, to spread everything out over the year so as not to have to do everything in the last month.
And we avoided overloading ourselves. I love DIY, and I'm a great handyman. If I had listened to myself, I would have made homemade guest gifts for everyone. Thibaut calmed me down a lot, to prevent me from exhausting myself. Finally, the guest gift was a good meal and a crazy atmosphere!

Wedding decoration
Quite quickly, we found it obvious to make Las Vegas the central theme of our day… Having a “theme” allows us to make certain choices more quickly!
We wanted a pop and festive atmosphere that reflects us. Starting with the stationery, created by Rébecca, aka Hello Poup Design, a graphic designer friend. A save the date, then a colorful announcement, not too classic. Our tables bore the names of the emblematic hotels of Vegas and Rebecca worked in illustrations the logos/storefronts of these hotels. The result was great!
Unsurprisingly, flowers were the central element of our decoration! This was a good thing because it was the season of my favorite flower: the poppy flower! I must admit that the date was not chosen by chance... We opted for bright colors highlighted by softer shades. We had desires, and Aude (my boss) knew how to create sublime atmospheres from the secular ceremony to the dinner. I didn't want to see anything in advance, and discovering everything as we went along was a fabulous gift. The head table was the greatest success. A colorful table runner, mixing flowers, tealight holders and mini disco balls. The result was beyond my expectations, it was magnificent. All our guests were captivated!
For the rest, just a few elements made by ourselves or by our relatives. We only did the essentials, because we didn't want a lot of little things that seemed like gadgets. Our 2 big projects were our urn in the shape of a slot machine and the neon "love". And my mother made a Vegas style welcome sign, which unfortunately was not put back in the room during the evening (everyone forgot).

The bride and groom's outfits
For the dress, I had an idea of what I wanted, but especially what I didn't want! I was looking for a fashionable, couture dress, made in France with beautiful materials. I only tried it on twice, the second was at Elise Martimort in Paris, and I loved all her dresses, but the one I had spotted wasn't there! I went back 15 days later, and the crush was confirmed for the model I had spotted. I had a few adjustments made to make it match what I wanted. The result was perfect. I loved my dress so much, and it was incredibly comfortable until the end of the night.
I love shoes and was looking for a wow model! I was dreaming of shiny ankle boots, and fate put this Betsey Johnson model on my path.
For the civil one that took place in the morning, I found a nice pair of pants at Maison Guillemette, and a sequined top on Vinted. Simple and effective!
Thibaut chose his suit quite early, he wanted an unusual colour and absolutely a double-breasted suit! He went to scout out Samson and fell for this tweed fabric which gives it a very British look.
Their most moving memory
The secular ceremony!
I remember when the first entrance music was played, we chose " Can't take my eyes off you " and all the guests started clapping along. I didn't expect it and I realized that a hundred people were there just for us. To celebrate our love.
We were 37 and 39 years old, and after a long period of being single, we had found love, true love. All our loved ones were very moved to be there, to see our mutual love and to experience it with us. We were not ready to receive so much love.
We had chosen 2 long-time friends as officiants, each married, each with a beautiful vision of the couple and love. Charlotte and Elisa were fantastic, they led a ceremony with a lot of emotion, love, and a good dose of humor. Many guests had never attended a secular ceremony, and I think we won over many of them. Especially the older ones!

Their best choice in wedding planning
All our providers!
Our guests were unanimously impressed by an extraordinary cocktail and a flawless meal.
And also our DJ Damien, who was great. He knew how to respect our tastes and all the music was launched in perfect timing. The dance floor was never empty!
Advice from the newlyweds
Don't want to do too much. Listen to yourself. Take stock of what is important to you, because it is very different for everyone. Listen to your whims and deep desires, don't play a role.
Rely on your service providers, trust them and let them manage on the big day, they know better than us! Possibly take a coordinator to make the day less stressful, in hindsight and if we had had the budget, it would have been a good idea.
Finally, take a few days after the wedding to relax together. We had booked 3 nights in a cabin 30 minutes from the estate, we were able to rest and think back on this beautiful day!
