Mélanie & François-Xavier: two atmospheres, one sun, and Cézanne as witness
A request in Venice, overlooking the lagoon. A wedding in Provence, at the foot of Sainte-Victoire. Mélanie and François-Xavier have never done things halfway — and it shows.
Being Marseillais at heart, they couldn't imagine celebrating their union anywhere but under the southern sky. It was at Chateau Grand BoiseWith its vineyards, centuries-old plane trees, and breathtaking panoramic views, they set the scene. A day in two acts: a sunny cocktail in peach and lavender hues, then a cosmic evening with glitter and disco balls — the same elegance, two faces.
Organized from start to finish with creativity and meticulous attention to detail, this wedding bears their signature. Mélanie and FX tell us about it, with the smiles of those who know that such a day is unforgettable.
The marriage proposal
François-Xavier had organized a surprise weekend for the occasion. Obviously, when I realized, upon our arrival at the airport, that we were going to Venice, I started to have some doubts... it's true that he was, at certain times, unusually stressed (especially when going through the security gate) and that my friends bombarded me with text messages all day long telling me that the proposal was surely only a matter of minutes!
But it wasn't obvious either, far from it, and I must admit that after 9 hours of almost uninterrupted walking under a blazing sun where we went from palace to museum, from vaporetto to ristretto, in a city that he knows like the back of his hand, I no longer expected anything!
A quick freshening up at the hotel and we headed off to the Palazzo Gritti bar for an aperitif, away from the crowds, facing the lagoon and the church of Santa Maria della Salute. Two bellinis later, he finally got started! We were both so moved by this moment that we each shed a little tear. And luckily, this moment was discreetly immortalized by two friendly Australians who sent us the photos afterwards!
A few phone calls to family and two dead phone batteries later, we were now alone in the world...with two delicious pizzas in a typical city restaurant!
The Wedding Venue in Provence
The South of France was an obvious choice for both of us, given our Marseille origins. We had initially considered getting married near the sea, but the panoramic view of the Chateau Grand Boise on the Sainte Victoire mountain won us over at first sight…and we had only visited the place in winter, so imagine the summer!
The sun, the vines, the olive trees, the plane trees, the mountain, Life is good in Provence and Cézanne understood everything !
Wedding planning in Provence
We chose to space our civil and religious weddings one year apart (almost to the day) so that we could fully enjoy both events, our families and our friends, in Paris and in Provence.
It was essential for us to organize our religious wedding ourselves because we attach great importance to details, and the devil is in the details it's well known!
The key to a successful marriage: surround yourself with professional and caring service providers which give you confidence because, for those who still doubt it, it is still the most beautiful day of your life!
The wedding planning is a full time job and to ensure that everything went well on the big day, we called on Coralie from My Green Events who knows her region like the back of her hand and perfectly took over the coordination of the event (a magnificent feat considering the number of vendors!). On the long road to wedding planning, we crossed paths with vendors who are, above all, wonderful people: a huge and very special thank you to Pierre&Julie and to Maria & Xavi from The Dichosa who perfectly captured this unforgettable weekend!
Wedding decoration in Provence
One day, two atmospheres !
Due to the South, the day was placed under the sign of " Solar Love » mixing warm and pastel colors, lavender, wheat, mismatched floral arrangements in pink and peach tones, in harmony with the country house, and vintage furniture. We must still pay tribute to the place which was almost sufficient in itself: the "Wow" effect of the exteriors was such that we decided to make the most of it during the cocktail (on the terrace) and dinner (under the plane trees). The weather was good, the planets were aligned, everything was perfect!
The evening, placed under the theme of " Cosmic Love " allowed us to give free rein to our imagination: a sequined dress for the bride, a pink suit for the groom (yes, you read that right!), XXL disco balls, a vintage rug... we laughed, drank, and danced until the end of the night!
Their most moving memory
It's impossible to summarize this day in a single memory, as it was so emotionally intense for both of us: the first look Of course, the entrance into the church exchange of alliances, lhis speeches of our families and our witnesses are all precious moments that will remain forever engraved in our memories.
But what touched us most of all was the presence of all our loved ones to celebrate our union in such an extremely anxious and uncertain context. For one day, we all put our problems aside; it felt so good!
Their best choice in wedding planning
We tried to organize our wedding ourselves from start to finish, without relying too much on our respective families, and by capitalizing on our strengths: my creativity and my meticulousness. We did our best to ensure that the wedding reflected who we are without following current trends.
Advice from the newlyweds
- The best providers/venues are booked quickly so don't hesitate too much and go for it because you might miss out on your crush for a few weeks.
- Have a plan B in case of bad weather, even if you are getting married in the South. No one is safe from a bad surprise, especially when it comes to the weather, so make sure you cover your back.
- Don't worry about it on the big day. Easier said than done of course, but it's essential. You're going to want to control everything because you'll have spent months (or even years) organizing the most beautiful day of your life, but there will necessarily be "hiccups" or unforeseen events because you're not alone on board. Take only the best and forget the rest, the day goes by too quickly so make the most of this day surrounded by the people you love!
