A wedding in Brittany – Marie + Eymeric

True love is often right under our noses without us realizing it. This is the story of Marie and Eymeric who transformed their beautiful friendship into a love story. Six years later, here they are, off on the beautiful adventure of marriage. A seaside wedding in Brittany, bathed in sunshine and love.

With the beautiful images of Solveig and Ronan, Marie tells us…

Their meeting

"Actually, we had known each other for 13 years when our love story began. We weren't very close but we were in the same group of friends throughout our teenage years.

And then one evening in December, just before Christmas, the whole gang got together for a party before the traditional family evenings. Not a very original story, we went home together that evening!

Then,  We met again in Paris, taking care not to tell anyone so as not to make our friends gossip, but very quickly the secret was discovered! Six years later, Eymeric propelled us into the great adventure of Marriage for our greatest happiness...

The marriage proposal

“In June 2018, Eymeric surprised me by taking me to Belle-île en Mer for supposedly 2 days of backpacking bike riding, picnicking and overnight stays in a tent… not really my dream program, but why not!

When we arrived, the bikes turned into a nice car and the campsite into a dream hotel on the cliff.

That's where he started, in the evening, alone on the hotel terrace, in front of the sea... a magical and funny moment at the same time! We promised ourselves to go back next year for our cotton wedding anniversary!

A wedding in Brittany

“When we started organising our love party, we immediately thought of Greece and more specifically the Cyclades… islands that we love and where we have wonderful memories together.

But very quickly our native Brittany became obvious. It is there that we grew up, a few minutes from each other, there that we met,  it was there that our marriage took on its full meaning.

We wanted a friendly and intimate religious ceremony, so our little chapel with a starry sky was the perfect place. It was a very emotional moment but also very relaxed and funny thanks to the interventions of our loved ones and the unparalleled humor of our priest!

Then, in front of the sea on a small beach  Sheltered from the wind in a pretty bay, our friend Marie-Gabrielle's restaurant was the perfect place to bring together all the people we love!

Wedding planning

"We had a year to prepare for our big day, the perfect timing to avoid rushing. Right from the start we started looking for service providers and built the scenario we dreamed of with them.

Being both interior designers, we also did a lot of things ourselves, such as the invitations and the decoration for example.

“We both wanted simplicity but with attention to detail. The flowers quickly became the most important point, then came the candles, the garlands and the work of the light because our reception venue was outdoors.

We also had at heart little attentions for our guests like flip-flops, practical for removing high heels and dancing until the end of the night or even cozy blankets so that no one is cold on the terrace once night falls!

For the vintage touch,  Pretty mismatched plates, antique gold candlesticks and medicine jars used as vases completed the decoration.

Your best memory

This is probably the hardest question! It’s really hard to name just one moment in the most incredible day of our lives together.

One of the highlights for us was the surprise of Eymeric's sisters.  After the mass, we felt a rush to get to the reception venue... strange!

In fact, at the time of the cocktail, we saw from afar a plane heading towards us to fly over the bay. A banner fluttered in the wind with our first names spaced with a pretty red heart… a magical moment! The surprise was original and all the more perfect because it echoes the many beach afternoons of our childhoods where advertising planes swept the sky.

Eymeric's moved face,  the stars in her eyes and the tears on her cheeks  are unforgettable!

Advice from the newlyweds

• Looking forward and making preparations into lovely memories. Enjoy trying on dresses with your girlfriends, discussing the organisation together, hen and stag parties, evenings spent stamping, sticking or writing dozens of envelopes… Preparation is an integral part of the wedding, it is as important and great as the big day so enjoy it!
• And then on the big day, we can never say it enough, but you have to enjoy every moment and let yourself be rocked by the day, you forget everything and you fill yourself with waves of love and friendship! There will inevitably be little details that will not be as you thought, but on the big day you let it go! In most cases, these are details that no one will notice and at worst in a few years, you will laugh about it!
• Last tip, our friend Alex advised us to take “mental photos” during the day and it turns out that it is one of the best pieces of advice we have ever been given. We stop, breathe, gain height and look around us to capture the moment and remember precisely the scene that is unfolding before our eyes, it really works! In addition, it is a way to find ourselves for a few minutes together in this crazy day.
