A wedding in Haute-Savoie – Faustine + Arthur
CONTENTS
From their meeting through mutual friends, life will bring them together a year later. That was 8 years ago. Before settling in Lisbon, Faustine and Arthur said yes in Paris and made an appointment with their loved ones, the following year, for a beautiful wedding in Haute-Savoie.
With the beautiful images of Hey! Capture, Faustine tells us…
The initial meeting
"We met at the end of the summer of 2010 through mutual friends when they returned from an Erasmus year in England. We had just returned from abroad too, and were starting our end-of-study internships, Arthur in Geneva, me in Paris... a bit complicated.
Finally, we met by chance at a New Year's party, we gave it a try and Arthur ended up joining me permanently in Paris, a few weeks later. We moved in together at the end of the summer of 2011, about a year after we met."

The marriage proposal
"To say that I thought about it a lot would be an understatement (!), but I didn't think it would happen right away. Finally, after waiting for it for so long, the proposal happened when I least expected it! It was in August 2016 in Rome, over a glass of prosecco at sunset on the terrace of a couple of friends we were visiting. It was very moving, natural and spontaneous, and above all completely unreal."

"We quickly decided to have the wedding in two stages: the civil wedding in Paris before moving to Lisbon, and the religious wedding in Haute-Savoie, where Arthur is from, the following year.
Since then, we have visited several places in Haute-Savoie that could match our criteria, and despite the complexity of finding a place that ticks all the boxes, we both fell under the spell of the Castle of Saint-Sixt. The authenticity and character that emanates from the place immediately seduced us (and this despite the not very favorable weather conditions that day!). As soon as we entered the room, we projected ourselves on the big day and this mutual love at first sight pushed us to make our decision quickly.
Another significant detail, It was the presence of the church (which happens to be the old chapel of the castle) just 300 meters from the reception venue, which considerably facilitated the logistics.

Wedding planning in Haute-Savoie
"We were lucky to have time and to be able to start looking for service providers early, and since we were moving to Lisbon in the meantime, we wanted to make as much progress as possible before leaving. Between word of mouth and the address books of wedding blogs, we organized a lot of meetings in a short space of time and followed our favorites, both for the caterer and the photographer, the DJ, the food truck, the artisan jeweler for the wedding rings, etc. Beyond the quality of the services, we really let ourselves be guided by our feeling with each one.
For my dress, as I had time and no specific idea, I went off in all directions... I tried on a lot of very beautiful creations but in which I never felt like myself, until I came across mine, at Rime Arodaky, which swept away all my doubts in an instant.
The organization was generally quite smooth, and we were lucky to have our parents around us to sort out a lot of details, which are particularly important when you are abroad (sending out invitations, making mass booklets, preparing the urn and guestbook, etc.). Between the dress, the suit, the wedding rings, the hair and makeup tests and the preparation of the religious celebration, we still had a lot of back and forth during the six months leading up to the wedding!

Wedding decoration
“We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted (only white flowers, not something too elegant and rustic, to move away from the rustic side of the place) and I spent a lot of time making inspiration boards to be able to clearly express our desires.
Arthur's father owns a florist-landscaper business in Geneva and so it was only natural that he and his team took charge of the floral decoration. After explaining to him what we liked, we gave him free rein to carry it out, and the result was absolutely superb: an arch of white flowers in front of the church door, white flowers everywhere, hanging tealight holders and flowers in the church aisle and in the reception room, magnificent arrangements for the table centerpieces...
We also called on Marylou's Workshop, who officiates at the Château de Saint-Sixt, to finalize the decoration with welcome and direction signs, menus and place markers recalling our invitation theme, and also juice and beer bars to dress the park and allow other types of refreshments to the guests.
Seeing the result, we were on cloud nine, everything was as we had hoped."

The wedding budget
"Out of discretion for our guests, we prefer not to give an amount. Organizing a beautiful wedding is obviously not cheap, but we absolutely do not regret having treated ourselves, it was so worth it! In the end, we still more or less managed to stick to the budget that we had initially set (okay, it was a little over!). «
Your best memory
“There are many, but for both of us, it was without a doubt the moment when we discovered each other in the church, me on my dad’s arm and Arthur waiting for me near the altar… we were really very moved and it was hard to hold back our tears!
We have fond memories of our religious celebration, which was both moving and joyful (France was playing its World Cup round of 16 match against Argentina at the same time, so the priest punctuated his homily with a few football metaphors, which made everyone laugh).
We also loved the moment when we entered the room with music (to Don't Stop Me Now by Queen) for dinner, it was magical!

advice bride and groom
- « Enjoy !!! Unfortunately, it goes by too quickly, and you have to live every minute to the fullest, including the preparation.
- We need to put things into perspective and release the pressure. on elements over which we have no control and others which are ultimately more anecdotal, and which the guests will probably not even notice.
- Working with providers you trust completely, do not hesitate to delegate and communicate your desires and fears to avoid misunderstandings and stress!”
