Wedding in Occitania at the Château de Malmont – Alexia & Thibault

Wedding in Occitania at the Château de Malmont
With the pandemic, Alexia and Thibault stayed engaged for two years and gave birth to a baby boy. A time that they used to maximize the organization of their wedding in Occitania. A sun-drenched day at Malmont Castle.
With the beautiful images of Laurent Brouzet, the bride tells us…
The initial meeting
January 6, 2017 at a MHR rugby match. A friend had obtained box seats and invited us separately. I was in Marseille for a DU, the train was late, I almost never arrived.
I still ended up arriving at half-time. Thibault was very tired because he had just recovered from the flu and did not think he would come. He even whispered to his partner: Well I'm going to the match still a little sick, in any case it's not tonight that I'll find the love of my life ».

The marriage proposal
“Total surprise! I was leaving work and Thibault said to me, “ we are going on a weekend, chosen between the surroundings of Marseille and the Côte d'Azur " We are heading towards La Magdeleine in Gémenos.
As soon as we arrived, we strolled through the gardens, had a drink at the bar and then went to get ready to go to the restaurant. I asked him if he liked my outfit and he said: " No, you're missing something "And that's when he proposed to me. I couldn't believe it. I was shaking like a leaf. The ring was beautiful. I was crying and smiling at the same time. I still asked him several times if he was sure before saying yes."
Malmont Castle in Occitania
“It was love at first sight. It was the only estate we visited. We felt right at home there. It met all our criteria. Plus, it’s run by a lovely family who were very helpful to us.”
I had made an Excel spreadsheet with all the areas around Montpellier and the criteria that were important to us. End time, number of beds, caterer and wines required or not, rental price. Our choice fell on 2 areas. We visited Malmont Castle and it was obvious.”

Wedding planning
"Honestly, very quickly after the request, I began to immerse myself in the world of weddings. By registering on all the Facebook groups, looking at the sites that list the service providers including Madame C's blog, save tables Pinterest for decoration inspiration and to take a screenshot of all the wedding dresses that I liked. But above all, I started by listing the estates, caterers, photographers and DJs. We wanted to book the venue and the caterer quickly to be calm and get our first choices (best value for money).
With Covid, we ended up staying engaged for almost 2 and a half years, which allowed us to organize regularly with less stress (even if there was some, obviously). We even had time to have our son in the meantime."

Wedding decoration
“I knew I wanted a white wedding. Monochrome. Maybe with a bit of champagne color. All I had in mind was baby's breath. I couldn't think of anything else. So I looked for "baby's breath wedding" decor inspirations. I had the help of a friend who had worked for a florist, she was very creative. She kindly agreed to take care of the bouquets, the table decorations and the welcome sign. She rocked it."
The wedding budget
From 180€ to 400€/person
Their most moving memory
“There are two. One at the beginning and one at the end. Thibault with tears in his eyes when I entered the church. Then at the end of the evening before the DJ left. She broadcasted "the desire to love". We danced slowly with Thibault and all the friends still there at the end of the evening gave us a giant hug to the rhythm of the music. I said to myself, " can't part after receiving so much love todayi". »

Their best choice in wedding planning
"The use of the Trello tool shared with my fiancé. A “to do” column, a “cancelled/not retained” column, several columns: guest list, bride, groom, decoration, estate, budget/payments, civil wedding, religious wedding, brunch, communication, accommodation around the estate, to do on the big day. »

Advice from the newlyweds
« Having fun while preparing because it can be very very stressful especially if there is one of the two who is more involved (who anticipates more). If it is to organize this magnificent day in stress and tension, it is not worth it. I advise them to do everything that can be done as soon as possible.
Project yourself to the big day. Visualize how the day will unfold to anticipate needs.
