Wedding in Occitania
at Château St Pierre de Serjac

Kelly & Rob, a vintage love under the Languedoc sun

Some weddings tell a story that goes beyond just the big day. They speak of intuition, of perfect timing, of choices made from the heart—and of a joy that flows freely. Kelly and Robert's wedding is one of those stories. A meeting against the backdrop of Cinco de Mayo and a dog's birthday, a love nurtured by shared references, humor, and knowing glances, and then this very clear desire: to gather, to celebrate, to live life to the fullest.

The setting feels almost like a natural progression. Château St. Pierre de Serjac, in the south of France, becomes the stage for a wedding conceived as an enchanting, immersive, and profoundly human interlude. Here, nothing is static, everything is embodied. A "wild chic" aesthetic embraces nature rather than taming it, personalized details tell a story (that of a couple, a beloved dog, loved ones who have passed away but are present in other ways), and above all, there's this precious feeling: that of a wedding lived, not performed.

Kelly and Robert envisioned their union like writing an intimate manifesto: without yielding to expectations, prioritizing meaning over appearances, emotion over staging. A whole weekend to become a family, to forge bonds, to dance without restraint, and to remember that what truly matters is never perfection, but love that is seen, felt, and shared.

A sunny and sincere report, reflecting the image of this couple who chose to say yes — fully, freely, and in their own way.

The initial meeting

Kelly : We met on Cinco de Mayo at a mutual friend’s dog’s first birthday party in Charlotte, North Carolina. Robert was unsure about going because a young single man would rather spend his Friday night at a bar rather than a dog’s birthday party… but it turned out to be the best decision because he met his future wife. I had my dog, Harper, with me who played with the other dogs while I was approached by a silly man who complimented my Hermes bracelet and my watch. Just like that, I found a man with the correct appreciation for French couture and that night marked the beginning of Kelly & Rob. .

The marriage proposal

Kelly : Robert proposed in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, a place very special to him since childhood and one we both came to cherish while locked down during the pandemic. He surprised me by proposing aboard a vintage wooden boat at sunset. Since I thought it was a typical weekend getaway, I had too many drinks the night before and nearly derailed all of the secret plans with the worst hangover possible. Luckily, Robert saved the day with a last-minute IV treatment at a med-spa. Rob had secretly had both of their families and friends waiting back at his family’s house to celebrate after the boat ride. He designed the ring himself with a ring concierge out of Texas. I, Kelly, still 1000% believe it is the most beautiful ring I could ever dream of.

Fun fact : We sent engagement photos and a thank you card to the med-spa who saved the day.

The wedding venue

Rob : Château St. Pierre de Serjac in the south of France was the standout among a dozen venues the couple visited. Though Kelly originally hadn’t planned to tour it, I insisted—and we are so glad we did! Upon walking onto the grounds, it instantly felt like 'the one.' It offered everything we wanted: the stunning French countryside, on-site lodging, a beautiful vineyard, incredible food, and exceptional staff. More than logistics, it just felt like home; with an energy and spirit that aligned perfectly with our desire to host a joyful, immersive celebration for our guests who were traveling from all around the world.

Wedding planning

The wedding took place on June 14, 2025, at Château St. Pierre de Serjac. The planning process was a deeply collaborative effort. We wanted the whole process to be rooted in partnership built around love, intention, and teamwork.

Since we work long days in the office, we had many late-night planning sessions together to review details and make decisions. We’d be sure to send out all communications at night, so they were received in France by the next morning. Even though we were exhausted many nights, we let the time difference work in our favor.

We focused on making the wedding a true representation of ourselves; unconstrained by tradition, deeply joyful, and an environment where each guest could let loose. Although difficult at some points, we wanted the planning process to be joyful rather than stressful. With the help of our incredible planner, Mathilde, and a flexible mindset the process was not only manageable but deeply meaningful.

Wedding decoration

Our aesthetic was 'sauvage chic.' We focused on enhancing the chateau’s natural beauty rather than masking it. Since the grounds were already breathtaking, with the rows of vines, jasmine flowers in bloom, and the natural paths around the grounds, we leaned into this fun, vibrant, and natural season..
With our florist, Faustine, we kept the floral arrangements un-uniformed with peaches, yellows, pinks, and greens that felt mirrored to the landscape. The jasmine was blooming and added an extra element of floral design to match.

Additionally, we wanted to personalize some decorative details. Through the chateau, we printed fun stationery that mirrored the font and logos of our invitations. We also provided pool towels as wedding favors to our guests who used them on Sunday during our pool party.

We had cocktail stirrers that featured our dog, Harper’s, face so it felt like she was with us in spirit on the wedding day.

An extra special element to us was at the ceremony; a petal cone station honoring loved ones who had passed—each flower petal represented someone special to us. Our guests threw the petals at the end of the ceremony, and we were able to keep our loved ones as a special part of our day.

The bride and groom's outfits

The bride's outfit

Kelly : I wore a gown by Newhite purchased from Lovely Bride. I had a custom cathedral veil made in Vietnam, hand-stitched with white flowers and vines. She wore Aldo flats with beading, vintage jewelry from my mother, and detachable sleeves that gave the illusion of an outfit change for the reception. The designer of the dress is two sisters, which resonated with me because I have two sisters of my own. My goal was simple and relaxed elegance.

The groom's outfit

Rob : I wore a very dark blue shawl collar tuxedo from Charles Tyrwhitt, a custom shirt, and velvet tuxedo slippers that read 'I Do,' gifted by Kelly for Valentine’s Day. I personalized my outfit further with vintage golf suspenders, cufflinks featuring Harper’s face, a Rolex gifted for his 30th. For the wedding, Kelly gifted me a vintage Hermès watch which I wore for the Welcome Party.

The outfits of the bridesmaids and groomsmen

Our sisters wore elegant garden-party mismatched dresses with small bouquets similar to mine. The groomsmen wore blue suits in coordinating tones.

Kelly’s best friends, who were not officially in the wedding party, and the flower girl had matching floral barrettes, prepared by Faustine, to wear in their hair. It was a beautiful touch and subtle coordination for the special women in my life.

Their most moving memory

Rob : I was overwhelmed seeing Kelly walk down the aisle for the first time. Her vows moved me deeply and I still reflect on the love in her words.

Kelly : A special memory to me was during dinner when we took a pause and looked out at all of our incredible guests who traveled from so far to be there for us that night. during dinner and soaking up the love and support of people who had traveled from far away. Robert and I were touched by the love and support of our people just to celebrate our marriage. We also loved watching how our diverse circles of friends connected and formed new friendships throughout the weekend.

Another memorable moment : When the dance party started, our band because a medley with Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. Although we hadn’t told them beforehand, these are two musicians that the Goreckis listen to often and Kelly has had many dance parties in their living room over the years with Robert’s family. We hugged and danced together to songs that mean a lot to us. It was another unforgettable memory that bonded our new family.

Their best choice in wedding planning

Our best decision was staying focused on the purpose of the day—celebrating love and building a marriage. That mindset allowed us to enjoy the process without getting lost in minor details. Joy was our priority and we wanted to keep the wedding planning and the wedding weekend fun and meaningful

Kelly : My best choice was to wear flats.

Advice from the newlyweds

Kelly : Repeating advice from my best friend: plan your wedding for yourselves, not for others’ expectations. Your guests don’t want to go to a wedding planned to make your aunt happy or to have the best Instagram photos. Your guests want to celebrate your love your way. Keep it authentic to you as a couple.

Rob : I agree, this is the best advice. Guests won’t remember the food or centerpieces—they’ll remember how in love you were. Don't stress. The little things that don’t go as planned will turn into funny stories. Just enjoy it.

  • The total cost for the full wedding weekend was between €70–€000 for about 80 guests, including flights, accommodations, food, drinks, entertainment, venue rental, and outfits.

The wedding night itself cost around €40. The couple saw the weekend—welcome party, full-day Saturday event, and Sunday pool party—as a complete experience, not just a single-day wedding.
