Modern Gender Fluid Wedding

A few months ago we presented to you the fruit of our work on the first edition of THE ONE in Ibiza as well as the overall concept of this unusual workshop. If for this shooting with very ambitious Couture we wanted to respect the usual chronology of a real wedding, The desire for an independent painting, outside of history, immediately imposed itself.

For a long time now we have been thinking about the idea of a inclusive shooting where traditional codes would be turned upside down. An exercise within the exercise which was particularly close to our hearts. After endless hours of heated debate, we finally chose a gender fluid couple. However, we did not want "cliché" visuals where the outfits would be reversed for example, but rather more subtlety and elegance. It was also about respect the very Fashion DNA which defines all four of us.

A major challenge therefore to represent another type of couple, a love with which everyone can identify despite its atypicality. This audacious project is part of an era where the lines of masculine/feminine codes are in perpetual motionThe new generation identifies itself less and less with its gender assignment and Fashion is the first playground where everyone's desires can be freely expressed.

Almost ten years to the day after the adoption of marriage for all by the National Assembly, we wanted to celebrate Love in all its forms in our own way. And while no fewer than 70 same-sex marriages have been celebrated in France since then, representations of LGBTQIA+ couples remain rare and timid in this area. This is why we wanted to offer strong and committed images, inspiring and totally new. Whether or not we are sensitive to the cause, the underlying message remains this:

“Love and marry each other as you are!”

We spent a long time discussing with Mandy our MUAH about the looks to give to our couple of the day. Our choice fell on a 1920s flapper style for her and a bearded alpha male mix enhanced with touches of glitter and smoky eye light for him.

For the outfits we called on the talents of the workshops of the costume brand Faubourg Saint Sulpice who immediately joined this slightly crazy project, all within a three-week time frame! Elise Martimort imagined a women's suit with pleated pants oversize enhanced with jewel buttons. All worn next to the skin. A look that is meant to be a tribute to the famous tuxedos of the late 60s by Yves Saint Laurent where the woman proudly displays a dandyish, provocative, extravagant, impertinent and insolent look but always anchored in its seductive power, highlighting what constitutes it as such. A figure of a strong and independent woman who does not oppose the man. The designer then imagined with Karim Balhaïche of Faubourg St Sulpice, a masculine outfit mixing the codes of the men's suit with a two-piece outfit composed of a shawl collar jacket tied at the waist by a long and wide belt as well as a kilt closed by a belt directly borrowed from traditional pants Gurkha. Former professor of Costume History, Elise wanted to rehabilitate the wearing of the men's skirt as it has long been customary throughout the centuries and still is in certain civilizations and customs. Far from disguising themselves, these two strong looks tell the stories of eras and appropriate them to the taste of the day.

Heloise of So Helo imagined for this painting sets and earrings of cascading pearls and the two designers then accessorized the outfits down to the smallest details. And because perfection does not accept approximations and the ideal shoes did not seem to exist, our team of creatives did not hesitate to design them for the occasion!

Once the looks are perfected, it's time to write the story. Together, the four organizers of THE ONE imagined an atmosphere, postures, attitudes so that the models could enter into their characters and transcribe the good intentions of this project. A great first for everyone, including the models, but the magic worked immediately and the result cannot be denied in the images!

The ballet of the organizing duo consisting ofElise Morgan and 'Emmanuel Amou brilliantly captured this essential painting.
