Terracotta wedding at Château de Fajac – Charlotte + David
CONTENTS
For Charlotte and David, 2019 was an intense year. The birth of their first child in March, then this fabulous wedding with terracotta variations, in the Toulouse region.
With the beautiful images of Stephen Liberge et Pierre&Julie movies, Charlotte tells us…
Their meeting
"David and I met at work in Béarn, he is American, I am French, he has a doctorate in petrochemistry and I am an apprentice for the end of my studies. I was far from imagining that I would marry him 7 years later.
We immediately liked each other a lot but we played the shy ones, circling each other for a year before daring to take the plunge. Our story began two weeks before I moved 500km away from his house for work. After 15 months of way too long a round trip and endless carpooling every weekend, I resigned and came back to live near him. A rather risky bet but it worked!
After 2 years of living together, a new challenge, David is transferred to Abu Dhabi. I drop everything and follow him for 3 crazy years, punctuated by new encounters, which have become real friendships, wild camping in the desert, sunsets after incredible kitesurfing sessions and lots of breathtaking memories and trips.
We returned in November 2018, Jack was born in March and we got married in August 2019, a year full of emotions.

The marriage proposal
"He proposed to me at home, just before we left on a road trip. It was a total surprise, I even asked several times if it was a joke.. Ha!
When I asked him why here now, at home, when we are going to the Seychelles in a month, he replied: “I made you wait long enough, I was ready since weeks, as soon as the ring was ready I didn't want to make you wait any longer. Plus, now, we'll have something to talk about on this road trip!”
Wedding at the Château de Fajac
“The big priority was to find the place, we had a year and that can sometimes be too short. When we came across the Château de Fajac it was love at first sight. The place is incredible, and has been renovated and decorated with great taste.
It was the character of the Château that dictated the choice of theme. I gave Christelle carte blanche to ensure that the decor would match the atmosphere and colours of the château. My only wishes: to have a rustic feel and raw wood.

Wedding planning
“When we decided to get married, we were living in the United Arab Emirates and we were planning to move to Oman in the coming months. It was impossible for me to organize my wedding in France, from Abu Dhabi and newly pregnant. So I wanted to call on a wedding planner from the start. While looking for the rare pearl on the Internet, I came across Christelle's website (Elle Imagine) and I immediately loved her world and her incredible attention to detail. I contacted her right away and she told me that she was stopping the wedding planning part in the fall to focus solely on the scenography and design part. During our discussions, she advised me to contact Mathilde (Unikday) with whom she had already worked. Which I did and I don't regret it at all. Mathilde and Christelle formed a crazy team!
To sum up, having a wedding planner is the best thing you can afford to help you organize your wedding. It was a must for us because of our expat lifestyle but I recommend it to everyone, even if the wedding is happening close to home. It's a small part of the budget that gives you peace of mind that is priceless.

Terracotta Wedding in Toulouse
"The wedding design part really happened "all by itself" and it was pretty crazy. I did a Skype with Christelle to talk about my desires and the world we were envisioning. Christelle went to the location with Mathilde to discuss all the little details and see what she could do. She came back to me with a crazy decoration file, we discussed it to fix the last details and the day before the wedding Christelle was there to install the millions of things she had planned and it was just perfect.
It was exactly as I had imagined and even better and I didn't have to manage the slightest detail because Mathilde and Christelle organized it between themselves. And that's a huge comfort when you see the number of things you have to plan for a wedding."

Their most beautiful memory
"What stands out from this day is above all a lot of love. The one we have for each other obviously, but also the one that surrounded us during these few unreal days. A surge of positive vibes, hugs, embraces, kisses and old memories.
The majority of our guests came from abroad, from the United States, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, London, South Africa, or even from the other side of France... And seeing around us, gathered, so many people who mean a lot to us and who made the effort to come from so far away just to celebrate our love is crazy.
I am also very touched by the kindness and friendliness of the people who helped us make this day so special.”

Advice from newlyweds
“A word of advice for future brides and grooms: Surround yourself enough to be able to make the most of your day without having to worry about organization or anything else. Two items were definitely worth the investment in my eyes:
- Have a wedding planner who takes care of everything!
- Photo and video : The day goes by way too quickly and the only things that allow us to relive this day endlessly are the photos and videos taken at the wedding. I'm not talking about Aunt Jeanne with her disposable or the brother-in-law with his brand new smartphone! Let the pros do it, the real ones, you won't regret it. And it turns out that I took the best ones, don't hesitate to steal my contacts... ;) »
