Nordic Spring — Wedding inspiration in Finland
Clear light, nuanced whites, soft greens, and that feeling of rebirth characteristic of early spring. FinlandEva Monnier d'Avodah and Minna Kaita imagine a wedding editorial like a study of light, somewhere between contemporary romanticism and impressionist painting.
À Ullman's Villa, boutique hotel located facing the sea in the village of DalsbrukThe setting immediately sets the tone: Vintage finds, bucolic atmosphere, garden, Nordic horizon and the intimacy of an inhabited house.
The art direction draws as much from nature as from painting. Monet, the Macchiaioli, chiaroscuro, the poetry of flowers, and the movement of light nourish a palette of greens, whites, blues, and pastel pinks. The floral motifs are free-spirited, seasonal, and contemporary, while antique materials converse with more minimalist lines.
Custom linen, sculptural candles, handcrafted stationery, vintage pieces and floral arrangements without moss extend this quest for a sensitive luxury, respectful of the season and deliberately free of the superfluous.
Under the gaze of Minna Kaita, discovering a gentle Finnish spring, between art, nature and silent elegance.
The location of this wedding inspiration in Finland
Ullman's Villa is a unique boutique hotel located in the picturesque ironworking village of Dalsbruk. The location, overlooking the sea and surrounded by an enchanting park,
We fell in love with this place, with its second-hand pieces, its bucolic side and also its owners, Laura and Janne: Two of the kindest, most hospitable, and most generous people I've ever met. Their generosity extended to swapping one of their cakes with a neighbor for some wire mesh I needed for the floral arch. This shows how much they care about the people who come to Ullman's. And to top it all off, their food is absolutely delicious!
The shooting team
Spring is always an inspiring time, a time of renewal and rebirth, of new promises, of a light full of hope and life. Thinking about spring, with my photographer friend Minna KaitaWe dreamed of creating an editorial to capture the essence of the season.
Location of the editorial
Minna stumbled upon a captivating photo of Ullman's Villa on Instagram and she was immediately charmed by the Villa. Once the place was visited, it was undeniable: it corresponded so much to what we wanted to create, a spring editorial with a romantic, artistic and typically Franco-Italian atmosphere.
From there, we began to dream and our attention turned to the Impressionist painters, and especially to the work of Monet, and the Italian Macchiaioli movement, with their treatment of light and the singular poetry of their art.
Just like for our couples' big day, it was essential to surround ourselves with a group of talented, dedicated service providers with whom we felt confident and who shared our vision of aesthetics.
Design
Michaela from Hnstly Co and Annika from Studio Gummerus We worked in pairs on the design and printing of the stationery… gently typographed edges adorned with leaves and petals showing the ephemeral beauty of flowers… stationery with a tactile feel and handmade paper, a bit of Old World romance and of course subtle flowers with a modern and minimalist touch.
Styling
For the dresses, we chose two modern and minimalist dresses to contrast with the rest of the scenography, one for the ceremony of And for Love from my dear Géraldine in the Belgian showroom Melody Nelson Bridal and the other, a creation made to measure by the Swiss designer, Silvia, founder of Calla Lilies Studio.
MUHA
For the beauty, we entrusted it to Susanne, who knew how to enhance the bride with a fresh and natural look!
cake designer
Katarina of VK Cake and Sculpting, created a true edible work of art for the cake. We gave him carte blanche to translate the vision of the shoot and translate the feeling of rebirth and vibrant joy of Spring into a cake, with an unfolded, abstract and blossoming shape.
Models
Jasmin and Teemu, a true couple in love, perfectly embodied our bride and groom for the day! Even Jasmin's tattoos (a complete coincidence!) matched our theme!
It has truly been a pleasure to co-create with this incredible team and we are so proud of the result!
The artistic direction
Once the mood of the editorial was defined – bathed in light, soft, romantic, artistic and intimate – I created a storyboard by tracing each part of the day.
Colors
We have selected an artistic palette inspired by the radiance of spring, realistic romanticism, and the chiaroscuro of the Macchiaioli, with primarily greens and shades of white, touches of blue and pastel pink and less present possibly touches of yellow to bring a vibrant contrasting element.
Floral design
Floral art is one of my favorite parts. It's truly an essential way to create an unforgettable atmosphere! I have a contemporary approach and am very inspired by nature, so I followed my usual process, letting myself be inspired by shape, texture, and color.
Focused on nature and seasonalityI created the bride's bouquet, the table arrangements and the arch for the ceremony (eliminating the use of floral foam – a plastic derivative harmful to human health and the environment – to be in accordance with our sustainability and zero waste values) with the invaluable help of Michaela.
The art of the table
For the tableware, we wanted a harmonious contrast between old and new, using some vintage pieces from Villa Ullman, a magnificent tablecloth and linen napkins made to measure by Jalo Living, sculptural candles made from vegetable wax by Noosh Studio and of course menus and escort cards made by Studio Gummerus.
All of this was enhanced by the beautiful light of this spring day and the contagious joy of the bride and groom!

Professional advice for future brides and grooms
Focus first on the FEELING, the feeling you want your wedding to have and the type of experience you want to share with those you love. Let that feeling guide you when choosing your venue, vendors, and every detail of the wedding, and let go of anything that doesn't complement that feeling.
We also encourage you to invest in what is important to you, what you are connected to, and what truly reflects your relationship and your story.
