In a modern and minimalist breath, Gambs Agency et Coramour designer have imagined two Christmas tables. One very couture with a glamorous and traditional style, the other very refined with a wabi sabi style. Enough to inspire you for the holidays and let your imagination run wild.
With the beautiful images of Ayata Studio, the duo gives us their inspirations…
How did the initiative for this shooting come about?
“A few weeks ago, Océane from the agency Gambs Agency was contacted by Chillsilk, a brand specializing in pillowcases, silk accessories and beauty tools to promote the well-being of skin and hair.
They asked him to do a photoshoot on tableware as part of the Christmas celebrations in order to create an article in their newsletter that would highlight the work and the expert advice of decoration professionals.
For this project, Océane wanted to share it with another Wedding Designer, Cora from the agency Coramour, a friendly but also professional crush. This is how we both embarked on this little adventure a few weeks before Christmas, with the desire to combine our creativity.

The Memorial
"It was obvious to us to do this shoot in a house, for a sort of return to basics and simplicity. Christmas is an opportunity to welcome loved ones home, to share a moment of conviviality and sharing.
Concerning the choice of the house, it was also obvious. Cora being passionate about interior decoration and having recently had her house built decorated in a wabi sabi and modern style, it was the perfect place to do this shooting.

The shooting team
This shooting was born from the collaboration between a Wedding Planner Gambs Agency and a Wedding Designer Coramour, both passionate about design and decoration. We were keen to offer two table settings with a modern trend but with an opposing style!
For this shooting and as for the Christmas spirit, we wanted to surround ourselves with people who are dear to us and with whom we had real links, especially professional ones, and based for the most part in Provence.
For the photo and the style we imagined, Célia du Ayata Studio was obviously the person we thought of first, because of her refined, timeless, editorial but also glamorous style.
For the flowers, it was also obvious and it is Charlotte from Flower and Twig whom we contacted for her creativity and mastery of floral design. An almost inseparable duo that she has also formed for some time with Cora.
On the stationery side, we wanted poetry and elegance and calligraphy was the best representation of this for us. So we called on Virginie d'Inks and Shades for the place cards that we have declined in three different paper models. To contrast with a more modern and minimalist side, we called on Marina de Gang of Twins who created a refined menu perfectly in line with our inspirations.
To highlight the magical touch of Christmas and give a more real and realistic side to this table, we contacted the pastry chef Aunt Paulette with whom we have already worked and who has always been able to fulfill our expectations to perfection (as beautiful as it is delicious). For this shooting, she made us a traditional Christmas cake called “Kougloff”, an element that dressed our two tables wonderfully!
We also contacted a creator of sculptural candles, the idea being to have varied shapes to bring a very modern side and play on heights, we had a real crush on Studio Firaora which makes its candles from soy wax.
For the chairs, we went through Romanella, a chair rental provider, which has a very trendy model of bistro chairs, they were ideal for this project.
Concerning the art of the table, we went for part of the dishes and the tablecloths by Green Almond Rental et Jolibazaar, both of which offer modern and varied products for rental.

The scenography
We really wanted to create a table that reflected our image in a minimalist and modern spirit to align with current trends inspired by both the world of weddings and interior decoration such as wabi sabi trend. This current trend, very popular on social networks and in interiors, is a Japanese spiritual and aesthetic concept which advocates the art of imperfection. To bring the Christmas touch to this table, we opted for simplicity. A burnt fir branch suspension decorated with a pearl garland above our table, the famous traditional Christmas cake “Kougloff”, a glass of champagne for the festive side and here we are immersed in the atmosphere we had dreamed of so much with just what it takes.
However, we knew that, in order for our shooting to speak to as many people as possible, we had the idea of creating a second table more traditional. Indeed, Christmas is still and above all a tree, fairy lights, key colors such as red and gold etc. The idea was therefore to create a glamorous, modern, couture table with traditional notesIt was important for us to keep the traditional Christmas spirit while diverting its key decorative elements to make a unique and original table!

Tips for successful table decoration
For a successful table decoration, it is important to think carefully in advance about the association of the different elements that you want to have on your table. The first mistake is often to go on impulse by buying items that do not always go together. We thus end up with tables that are not coherent or too busy. The inspiration board is an ideal tool to avoid this kind of error, Take time and enjoy designing your tables, you will see the difference in the final result!
On the decoration side, candles and flowers are essential and this is clearly THE finishing touch that will make the difference. Avoid plastic plates and paper napkins, choose noble and quality materials. Don't hesitate to play and mix materials and textures for a trendy look. Finally, don't hesitate to rent your tableware from professionals at your holiday dinners instead of buying a full service that you might only bring out once a year. This will be more economical but also more eco-friendly !
